Klaw, the Master of Sound, has battled a long list of Marvel heroes including the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and the Black Panther.  He is featured in the mega-hit movies Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther.  Additionally, the villain played a major role in Marvel's original Secret Wars mini-series.  Whether individually or as a member of the Masters of Evil or the Frightful Four, Klaw is a force to be reckoned with.  Could this often under-rated villain still have a role to play in the MCU?

Another Stan Lee/Jack Kirby Classic Creation

Klaw's comic debut came way back in 1966 courtesy of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in Fantastic Four #53.  Ulysses Klaw, a physicist in the field of applied sonics, learned of the rare metal, Vibranium.  Organizing a band of mercenaries, he set out to raid the only known source of the element in the hidden African kingdom of Wakanda.  King T'Chaka (father of the current Black Panther, T'Challa) refused Klaw's demands.  Furious at the rebuff, Klaw and his men open fire on the Wakandans.  They gun down T'Chaka and many other Wakandans, but their efforts allow the young prince to escape.

T'Challa returns to confront the mercenaries while they are pillaging a nearby village.  Utilizing Klaw's own sound blaster, the prince scatters the marauders and destroys Klaw's right hand.  Years later, Klaw returns to Wakanda,  a sound blaster grafted onto his arm, replacing the hand he lost to T'Challa.

Klaw's machinery allowed him to create "sound constructs".  These monsters battled the Fantastic Four and the Black Panther.  The Panther destroyed Klaw's machinery trapping him in a cave.  To escape the destruction, Klaw leaped into his own sound transformer.

The transformer changed Klaw into a being of solidified sound.   No longer human, Klaw used the sonic claw grafted onto his arm to create solid sound constructs.   Klaw is a long-standing member of the Masters of Evil.  For a short time, he even led the villainous group.  The Frightful Four have also welcomed him as a member.

A Versatile and Well Travelled Opponent

Klaw's opponents have ranged from the aforementioned Black Panther and Fantastic Four to the Avengers, Ka-Zar, Dazzler, Daredevil, the Thunderbolts, Cable, and more.  He has been destroyed several times, only to have his body rebuilt through various means.

One of the best-known occurrences of this happened in the Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars Mini-Series.  An earlier battle with Dazzler left Klaw trapped within the machinery of Galactus's ship.  Doctor Doom freed him from the ship to be his lackey.  A barely coherent Klaw helped Doom siphon energy from the ship to confront the Beyonder.

Could Klaw Make an MCU Comeback?

We all saw Killmonger kill Klaw in the MCU Black Panther movie (sorry for the late Spoiler Alert).  However, it would not take much retconning to find a plot hole that would allow the villain to undergo his comic book transformation to pure sound.  This would keep the incredible Andy Serkis (the actor who played Klaw) in the MCU and allow him to shine as the reborn villain.  Imagine the actor that brought Gollum from the Lord of the Rings to life focusing his talents as the maniacal Master of Sound.

With powers that mimic DC's Green Lantern, Klaw would adapt beautifully to the big screen.  As shown in his comic appearances, he makes a great foil for either a powerful team or an individual opponent.  With the Black Panther franchise certain to continue, will we see Klaw's potential fully realized, or will he remain Almost Infamous?
