WandaVision has got MCU fans buzzing once again. What are the must-have Vision issues for the Gold, Silver, and Modern age fans?

I was definitely bummed with Paul Bettany's Vision constant pummeling in Avengers Infinity War. It was a crushing blow to a character I felt we never had much access to. Thankfully, WandaVision is on the way and we'll get to see the ins and outs of our favorite "purple weirdo."

The Old School

This one won't be on many of our key lists. In fact, it may actually be worth more than some of our entire collections. Rest assured, Golden Age comic collectors are on the hunt for Marvel Mystery Comics #13. Before you get too excited, no, this isn't the exact same Vision that's currently in the MCU, this is the Vision also known as Aarkus. In a conversation between Stan Lee and Roy Thomas, Thomas made the case for bringing back The Vision of Timely Comics to the Marvel Universe. Stan the Man, however, wanted an android. What'd they get? Both. A synthezoid.

Because the original release date of 1940, there just aren't that many out there. A total of 56 books are graded in CGC and sales are certainly spotty. While this may not be the origin of the Vision as we have seen him, the Golden Age hero of the same name was certainly the inspiration. (Although Aarkus has popped up in comics of the past 20 years here and there.)

The Classic

This is the brilliant red cover you're used to seeing: Avengers #57. 9.0 FMV of $1050, 7.5 FMV of $425. This was one of my first purchases as a collector. Sadly, I let the book go a long time ago (dumb kid) but it's an undeniable classic. It might even rank up there with Sgt. Fury and his Howlin' Commandos #64 for the best cover in red.

Anyhow, this is the safe bet to benefit from the resurgence of Vision. As we heard distinctly in Avengers Infinity War: Vision can survive without the mind stone. Why would they say that? Because he's not dead in the real sense. He's only dead in the comic book sense.

The New School

Tom King's run of the Vision is an incredible read. It takes a character known for his lack of emotion and puts him in the mix of a family. Vision #1 9.8 FMV of $170 is a safe bet in that not only will WandaVision be taking plenty of cues from the series, rest assured, but also that it's the first appearance of Viv Vision, Vin Vision, and Virginia Vision. With Viv Vision in the Champions line up, it makes a lot of sense for this to be a nice pickup. At the very least, give this series a read. It's a ton of fun.

And yes, variants abound. Go nuts.

The (Not so) Dark Horse

There's some speculation that Vision will return in his classic West Coast Avengers white costume. (West Coast Avengers #45 9.8 FMV currently pending, but the last few sales have been around the $250 range.) This could be because the Vision that ends up coming out of WandaVision could be very different than the one that went in. This is making West Coast Avengers a pricey book right now. While there isn't enough data for West Coast Avengers #45, 9.8s have been selling for around $250 in the past couple of months.
