It is a Silver Age collector’s idea of Heaven in Goldin's latest auction, and we could see some record-breaking prices when the gavel falls tonight.

I guess the current economic crisis isn’t impacting everyone. For most of us, rising inflation has taken a chainsaw to our home budgets, putting our comic spending on the back burner. While most of us will have to settle for virtual-window shopping, there are some high rollers tossing serious bids around Goldin.

This week, the auction site plays host to a collection that will have you drooling. Some of Marvel’s biggest Silver Age keys are up for grabs, with one, in particular, getting closer to the six-figure mark. Let’s take a look at some of these Silver Age holy grails of collectibles and do a little fantasizing.

AMAZING FANTASY #15

I can only speak for myself, but my fantasy starts with From Dusk Till Dawn Salma Hayek, minus Quentin Tarantino’s foot fetish. You know that scene when she has the snake wrapped over her shoulders and the pyro is shooting flames around her?

Wait. Wrong fantasy. In that case, I start my dreaming with that sweet CGC-graded 4.5 Amazing Fantasy #15 (possibly with Salma Hayek and her Mayan goddess costume involved). Sure, it’s a lower grade, but it’s still the first appearance of Spider-Man, so I’m not complaining. At the moment, the bid is at $26,000, and that would be a steal. In June, another 4.5 sold for $84k, though July saw the price dip to $43,200. Split the difference, and this ASM #15 should be in the $60k neighborhood. If anyone has $60k to give to their favorite comic blogger, I’m all ears.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK #1

At the moment, this beauty has a high bid of $80k, but you and I both know that won’t hold. Last year, the three 8.0 Hulk #1s to sell online averaged $159,335.

The most recent sale from December 17 scored a record $188,006, and the lowest price all year was $140k. Safe to say, this particular 8.0 Hulk #1 should at least approach the $150k mark.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1

Next on my wish list is this amazing copy of ASM #1. Not that it needs any incentive to be more expensive, but I predict some inflation if Spider-Man appears in the Fantastic Four’s MCU movie.

With this being his first solo title along with the FF on the cover art, it makes for prime investment real estate. After 17 bids, this 5.5-graded copy sits at $9k. That price won’t last, since it averages around $20k.

X-MEN #4

Next, an 8.0 X-Men #4 grabbed my attention. Since both Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver bit the MCU’s CGI dust, it would seem this holy grail is ready to deflate…just in time for it to get reenergized when Wanda Maximoff makes her triumphant return (and we all know it’s coming). In December, the 8.0 was earning over $10k.

When Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness took the wind from the investment sails, June saw two 8.0s sold for $7,200 and $6,600. The current high bid stands at $3,750, so you could be in for a bargain.

X-MEN #12

What can I say? I’m a sucker for classic X-Men. Typically I lean toward the Bronze Age X-keys, but who doesn’t love the Juggernaut? Come on and sing along with me, “Fighting. Dirty. Fighting Dirty.” Just because we’re friends, here’s the Juggernaut theme song. Enjoy getting that out of your head.

Want to put in a bid and call this 8.5 gem all your own? It’s currently at $2,000 after eight bids. That’s actually a good deal, since the last 8.5 sold for $5,500 on July 26. Holy. Shitballs. You really can’t stop the Juggernaut.

TIME, IT IS A-WASTIN

What are you doing? Go crack that piggy bank (crack your kids’ piggy banks while you’re at it and call them “investors”) and see if you have enough change to place a few bids.

Don’t wait because time is running out, and the auction ends tonight. If Goldin is anything like eBay, those prices will escalate quickly at the last possible moment, which will be entertaining in itself.
