Every week, GoCollect updates its Hottest Comics list. The list is updated, it's time to speculate on the biggest movers! We do this every week, so be sure to tune in every Thursday!

First up, let's take a gander at the top ten from the hottest comics list first. This is the second week in a row that Ultimate Fallout #4 has been dropping! Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen #3 climbed up 27 spots to land in the #1 place! This most likely has to do with the announcement from DC that Punchline will be getting her own self-titled one-shot comic in November. While there is a bit of tension about which comic is her first appearance, Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen #3 is credited with that. The other comic that people argue is Batman #89, which also climbed 45 spots to land in the 23rd spot.

Hottest Comics Biggest Movers

Time to dive right in! I'm changing some things up this week. I'm going to talk about the top 3 biggest movers in the top 100, but then I'm going to look at a couple movers that weren't in the top 100 last week, then jumped higher that spot #50. Let me know what you think about this change up and if it's interesting to you.

# 15 Spider-Man

Hottest Comics

This comic wasn't in the top 100 a week ago, but this week made it to the #15 spot by climbing up 129 spots. Amazing Spider-Man #194, the first appearance of Black Cat. Now, a few weeks ago, a different Black Cat issue made it to this biggest movers speculation. I wasn't able to find too much concrete information on this last time - so maybe there is some new information available now.

This comic was released in 1979 and cost a whopping $.40. It currently has an estimated 9.8 FMV of $1,650 - but the last 9.8 that sold went for $1,900 on eBay. Twice as many copies have sold in the past week compared to the week prior. There are currently 6,226 copies in the CGC Census with the most common grade being 9.6 (940 copies have this grade). The majority of the recent sales are over the estimated FMV. So people are searching and willing to pay more for it recently. What's going on? Well, it looks like not much new is out there. It's a continuation of the series I talked about a few weeks ago. Black Cat #12 was released and has made a couple headlines.
A coworker of mine shared with me this article that hints at a female-centered movie that will be directed by Olivia Wilde. While nothing has been confirmed, people assume it has to do with Spider-Woman - but they have yet to say no to a Black Cat movie...
I can't find much past that. Any of you know why this character has popped up twice now? Let me know in the comments below.

#45 New Mutants

Second on our list this week went from rank number 210 all the way up to #45. Climbing 165 spots is The New Mutants #100. Twice as many have sold in a week compared to the previous week - similar to the Spider-Man one we just talked about. The most notable sale last week was for a 9.8 that went for $95 on eBay from a fixed price. That is just under the estimated FMV for the same grade at $110. 2,875 of this comic are in the CGC census with the most common being a 9.8 with over 1,000. This is a relatively recent one from 1991, so that's no real surprise there.
What makes this issue so special is that it is the first cameo appearance of X-Force and the first appearance of Shatterstar. While the New Mutants film is still gaining a lot of traction, Shatterstar is why this comic jumped so much. Lewis Tan, Deadpool 2 actor, has been breaking headlines with his idea of a Shatterstar spinoff. "Of course, now I fell in love with playing him and would love to do a spinoff where we can explore Mojoworld in a Mad Max meets Gladiator type of way, that would be a dream."
While this is a long shot - these headlines may have been enough to spark interest for some to hedge their bets with purchasing this comic. It's still possible that with AMC expecting to open their theatres with the New Mutants movie on August 28th, people gained interest in all New Mutants comics, but I think it's too coincidental about the Shatterstar articles last week.

#52 Fantastic Four

Back to our regularly scheduled biggest movers, first up is Fantastic Four #52. This issue climbed 948 spots to land in spot number 52. Everyone knows about this comic - it's pretty iconic. Being the first appearance of BlackPanther and Negative Zone, this is a heavily sought after comic in general. This comic was released in 1966 and has an estimated FMV for a 9.8 at $90,000. Of course, a 9.8 hasn't sold since 2018. The most recent sale was a 3.5 verified collection for $459. Last week 8 sold compared to the lonely 2 the week before that. There are 4,712 copies in the CGC census with the most common grade being 6.5 with 494.

There is a 5.0 available in a Heritage auction that closes on August 24th. The 5.0 has an FMV of $575 and the current winning bid is $340. If you want to check it out go here.

I found a couple things for this one. One of those being an audio series about Black Panther that is going to be narrated by The Good Place actor, William Jackson Harper. The other is the datamined information from Marvel's Avengers PC beta that was released recently. Upon searching, dataminers were able to find some big named characters that players will be able to unlock, including Black Panther.

Will you be tuning into the audio series? Let me know in the comments below.

#63 Harbinger

Next on our list is Harbinger #1 that climbed 937 spots to land in #63. 9 of these sold in the past week compared to the ZIP the week before. That is a big difference. The most impressive sale was on eBay and was for a 9.8 that went for $700. That's $50 over the estimated FMV right now. There are 2,337 copies on the CGC Census with the most common grade being and 9.6.

Way back in 2015, Sony and Valiant Entertainment announced a deal for 5 movies that included Harbinger. We hadn't heard much since due to contract complications with Paramount... That is until now. While there isn't any formal announcement from Paramount, Valiant announced that they are aiming for a release date in 2021 for the Harbinger movie. The big debate has always been Marvel VS DC, but Valiant is trying to create their own universe. That attempt started this year with Vin Diesel's Bloodshot. While that wasn't exactly a ringer, maybe the Harbinger movie will strike up some enthusiasm for other Valiant Entertainment comics?

It's no surprise that with this announcement, people started their search for this comic. Are you looking forward to this movie? Let me know!

#92 Master of Kung Fu

The last on our movers list that climbed up 908 spots is Master of Kung Fu #17. 7 have sold last week compared to the solo one that sold the week before. The most expensive one that sold was a 9.6 off of eBay that sold for $289 as a fixed price. This is far off from the estimated FMV of $180 though. This is a bit of an outlier, but looking over all the grades, all but one grade has been increasing over time. 9.8 increased by over 121%. There are only 198 copies of this comic in the CGC Census with the most common grade being tied up between a 9.6 and 9.4. If you look at only blue labels, 9.4 beats out by a handful.

This Marvel comic was released in 1974 and is the introduction of Black Jack Tarr and third appearance of Shang-Chi. If you follow along in the blogs, you may already know why this one is picking up traction lately. New GoCollect blogger, Matthew Williams, has written two articles about this series. One about the Shang Chi movie coming out, and another about key issues to consider. In fact, in his second article, he pushed this specific comic as a better investment than Special Marvel Edition #15, which is Shang Chi's first appearance.
The upcoming movie is still in production, but is fully confirmed and is "expected" in May of next year. Hopefully, this stays on track. There are many people who are relying on this film as it will be the first heavily Asian led superhero film. Check out this article for Michelle Yeoh's view on the topic. I'm personally looking forward to this one, what about you? Let me know in the comments.

Hottest Comic Biggest Losers

As always, it's interesting to look at the biggest losers from the Hottest Comics list. The most notable one here, to me, is ASM 375. It went from the number 7 spot all the way down to spot 82? That is a bit jump.
