It's that time again. The top hottest comics are out and there are some major movers again. Let's look at the top 5 movers and speculate on why they may be moving up the ladder.

Top 100 Hottest Comics Biggest Movers

Howard the Duck #1 (Lim Sketch Variant)

In our first place position, jumping 930 points is Howard the Duck #1 (Lim Sketch Variant). This variant, specifically, has had (12) 9.8s sold in the past month as high as $120 versus the (3) sales from January through May combined. This issue is the first appearance of Gwenpool - who is pretty cool on her own. 9.8's value went up 31.3%, 9.4 went up 63.4%! There are many more people buying this issue at a higher price since last week, but I can't find out why! Now if it was about a year ago, I might have an idea. Howard the Duck was originally going to get its own TV series, but in January of this year, they announced that that project had been canceled.

However, one of our other bloggers, Mr. Long Short, did write about late printings that were worth getting, last week. Maybe enough people took his advice!

Something is Killing the Children #1 - Unlocked Retailer Edition

In our second spot is Something is Killing the Children #1 (Unlocked Retailer Edition) climbing 228 spots. This is a 2019 comic and has had a lot of positive feedback. (11) 9.8s sold last month, versus only (2) in May. The values of this comic also increased. 9.8s went up 27.8% and 9.6 went up 64.8%! That's another big percentage of pricing going up - without me being able to see why. I found some people reading and talking about the issue on YouTube, but not about this cover specifically. This issue, the Unlocked Retailer Edition, has 70 tracked graded sales, while the original only has 52! Now I know, this cover is cooler than the original, but there's got to be a bigger reason, right?

Let me know your thoughts. Were you one of those people searching this issue out? Why has it jumped 928 points on the Hottest Comics List?

Marvel Tails #1

In our third spot is Marvel Tails #1 by jumping 918 spots! (9) 9.8s sold last month versus the (5) sales made in May. Not much of a change. The values did increase though. 9.8s went up 10.2%, 9.6 went up 9.4%, and 9.0s went up 9.1%. So what's the deal? Well, Marvel Tails #1 is the first appearance of Spider-Ham. Spider-Ham was featured in the animated film, Into the Spiderverse, and was a well-loved character. but so far there hasn't been any news on a confirmed appearance in the upcoming sequel. Spider-Ham did get his own comic series though, and there have been multiple articles about him within the last week.

Apparently, they poked fun of the newer film, Joker, and people are having fun pointing it out. Although - they don't mention it by name, the depictions are quite obvious. So while I can't find anything about Marvel Tails #1, these articles bringing focus to Spider-Ham might just have rekindled the public's general love for the character that had them seeking out his first appearance comic.

Tales of Suspense #94

In the number four spot, Tales of Suspense #94, climbed up 907 spots. Last month, (2) 9.6's sold for high prices! A 9.6 signature series sold for $1900, while a regular 9.6 sold for $1749. The last time a 9.6 sold was in 2018 and it was for $549. It's no surprise the values for a 9.4 went up 63.3% and the 8.0 went up 47.6% also. Why is this? Well, Tales of Suspense #94 is the first appearance of MODOK. It has been confirmed that MODOK is going to be the main supervillain for the Marvel's Avengers Game. So it doesn't surprise me that people are wanting to get out there and snag his first appearance before this game gets released.

This game was originally slated for May of 2020, but to make sure it was perfect, they pushed it and now is set for September 2020. Are you excited about this game? Let me know!

X-Factor #24

Finally, in the number 5 spot, moving 851 spaces is X-Factor #24. The values of this comic have been increasing. 9.8s went up 16.4%, 9.0 went 31.5% as well. X-Factor #24 is the first appearance of Archangel and feature Apocalypse and the Four Horsemen. There has been a lot of speculation, not only on our blog but on other sites as well, as to what characters are going to be next for the screen. So it's possible that people are snagging up the first appearance of multiple X-Men characters, and this one happened to jump many spots. So although I couldn't find any further information on this one - what do you know?

Final Thoughts of the Top 100 Hottest Comics Biggest Movers

This week was difficult! I couldn't find much out there. Other than general speculations on potential movies, or renewed interest in a character that made headlines recently, there could be many reasons these comics are jumping the chart. That being said, what did I miss? Let me know in the comments!
