On March 9th Heritage is closing its Sixth Generation and Beyond Showcase Auction, and here are some video game gems that shouldn't be overlooked. The sixth generation of video games took players into a bolder world of video games. This era began in the early 2000s and includes consoles such as the Sega Dreamcast, the PlayStation 2, the Nintendo Gamecube, and Game Boy Advance.  Of course, consoles from earlier were still present, but many were being phased out by their parent companies. Many of the games from this era would define a new generation of players, and would also influence future video game designers. Many of these games are considered some of the best!

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS

Without a doubt, Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 3DS is one of the most highly regarded video game remakes. The game sold millions of copies during its lifespan and is still enjoyed by players to this day. The remake was praised by critics and fans alike, proving once and for all, if done right a remake can in fact improve on the original.

This gold-label VGA 100 Gem Mint is the best of the best. This uncirculated copy looks like it came right from the warehouse and into VGA's case. Seldom do we see perfect mint grades in any auction (and any grading service). There is no current sales data for other Gem Mint 100 Ocarina of Time games -- the only data currently available is for a VGA 90+ which sold for $1,094 in August 2021. This game will break a record for itself, making this the item to watch in this auction.

Mario Party 6

The sixth edition in the popular Mario Party series, Mario Part 6 is noted as being the first GameCube game to make use of the microphone add-on for in-game use.

This game is also noted as being one of the poorest-selling GameCube games -- Mario Party 6 barely sold over a million copies in its lifetime, despite being generally enjoyed by fans. As of December 2022, WATA had only reported grading eight copies of this game, making this harder to find in graded condition.

This sealed 9.6 A+ WATA-graded copy should be high on your list. As so few have been graded overall, there isn't a lot of prior sales data to go off of. In fact, the last sale we recorded on GoCollect was for a VGA 85+ that sold for $700 in January 2022. Much like Ocarina of Time, Mario Party 6 could set its own personal best sales record.

Game Boy Advance Console

When you think of things that are uniquely Y2K, you probably think of the Game Boy Advance. Created by Nintendo as the successor to the Game Boy Color, the Game Boy Advance was released to the public in March 2001. This 32-bit handheld console was a hit for Nintendo, and by June 2010 over 80 million units had been sold worldwide. The system lasted until December 2009 when production stopped on any new consoles, with the final sales ending in May 2010. This marked the end of the Game Boy line, as Nintendo had already started shifting into the Nintendo DS line.

The Game Boy Advance came in a number of unique colors, including this Limited Edition Platinum console. These are harder to find online, but occasionally they do pop up on eBay -- this is the first time Heritage has offered this particular one for auction. This VGA 90 NM+/MT sealed console is certainly a unique item. While there is not a ton of sales data for graded versions of this console, an ungraded complete in-box console sold for $99 on eBay in March 2023.
