Zack Snyder recently took a strong position on there being no chance whatsoever of a sequel to his upcoming adaptation of Watchmen. A position I both applaud and support. But the news is out, and according to IESB, it seems that Snyder is looking forward to revisiting the blood furrowed grounds of Sparta in the foreseeable future.

This revisitation of Frank Miller’s world would be set following the events of the battle of Thermopylae, but prior to the battle of Plataea - the battlefield where the narrator recounts the story of the battle of Thermopylae to the assembled Greek Host.

Gratefully, Snyder seems to be showing a rare respect (in the film industry) for the source material, and has stated that he’ll not even begin to think about a script until Frank Miller finishes writing the graphic novel sequel to 300. Which leaves me doubly excited - not only to see that Snyder’s not rushing to cash in on the success of the first film, but even more so, to hear that Miller is at work on a continuing tale of Sparta!
