Due to current circumstances, many find themselves having lots of free time at home. The question is what to do with this free time? Well, you can start a hobby, read, or you can hold on to your seats and check out all these hot titles coming out this year! Let's look at some video games!

Resident Evil Village (Release Date May 7, 2021)

The long-awaited sequel to Resident Evil 7 is coming! Taking place years after the end of Resident Evil 7, we find Ethan and his wife Mia living together when Chris Redfield shows up out of nowhere. Chris who has been a staple of the Resident Evil series appears to only kidnap Ethan, taking him to some unknown, mysterious European village. Obviously, this village will be a key element but what else will be showing up, we will have to wait and see.

Resident Evil 7 is will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X|S, and PC

Deathloop (Release Date May 21, 2021)

Now this game sounds pretty awesome. It is a new take on the regular first-person shooter game. Here we find two rival assassins trapped in a time loop. To escape you have to take out 8 key targets while being chased by the rival assassin. Sounds simple enough right? Wait it gets better! This time loop resets every day and every time you die. This means, you have a full day to take out 8 targets, if not, then you will spend the game trapped repeating your own Groundhog Day. The key is to learn from every repeat of the loop. Try new paths, gather Intel, and start using new weapons and abilities in order to escape the madness.

Deathloop will be released on PS5 and PC on 5/21/21 and on all other systems a year later. (Sorry Xbox!)

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart (Release Date June 11, 2021)

I am not a diehard Ratchet fan but I do love the new concept. This game brings aboard a new concept of traveling through levels. Instead of just beating a level and starting a new one, here portals open to carry you to them. As you are fighting, you can even use these portals to travel in and out of the board to avoid damage and create awesome moves. This game was created to use every PS5 feature to the fullest. We even get to experience the full use of the dual sense with each weapon having a varying response to your trigger buttons. This is one not to miss!

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will only be released for the PS5 Console

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake (Release Date TBA 2021)

The original game entered our consoles back in 2003. Now they have remade it promising brand new visuals, gameplay, and even characters. I have never played the original but do play a game religiously that was based on Assassin’s Creed. These games are very similar but I feel that AC was able to refine the game making it better than Prince of Persia. Ubisoft was slated to release the game in January but they pulled it in order to add more final touches. Personally, I hope this game becomes a huge success but I feel it will be overshadowed by its big brother Assassin’s Creed.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will release for the PS4, PC, and Xbox One

Far Cry 6 (Release Date TBA 2021)

It was announced last year that Far Cry 6 would be released in October of 2020 but due to issues, it has been pulled back. This is the largest Far Cry to date and features the fictional island of Yara. Yara is an island that is inspired by Cuba, ran by a dictator named Antón "El Presidente” Castillo, who is played by Giancarlo Esposito.

In the game, you play a character named Dani Rojas who is trying to topple "El Presidente" and his son who will succeed him. This land is frozen in time with a dictator who thinks he knows what's best to empower his people and nation. As a guerilla soldier, you will be well equipped to handle the turmoil ahead. This is set to be one of the best games of the series. Do you have what it takes to topple "El Presidente"?

Far Cry 6 is to be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X|S, PC, and Google Stadia; it'll also come to Amazon's Luna platform.

Ending Credits

Many of these video games have been pushed back due to developers wanting to add some more finishing touches. Ever since Cyberpunk 2077 hit the shelves, it had tons of issues causing a recall on the game. I can see this hurting the sales of the game in the long run. No sales equal no new games. But with so many people still stuck at home, now is the time to take advantage of video games. With these and many more titles coming out it should be a good year for gamers!

Several of these video games are made by well-known creatives in the industry. Do you think any of them have a future in the world of collecting? Which do you think could be worth the most in 30 years?
