1. Rainbow Six Quarantine

The next installment in the acclaimed Tom Clancy shooter franchise, Rainbow Six Quarantine, is set to be one of 2020's hottest new titles when it is released later this year. Set in the future of the Rainbow Six Universe, players will need to put everything they've got into fighting off a new mutated alien parasite that has infected the world and its entire human population. While it is thought the inspiration for the game can be found in the Operation Chimera mode in last year's hugely popular Rainbow Six Siege, we're still waiting for more official information to be released.

2. Outriders

Developed by Square Enix and People Can Fly, this new role-playing shooter is set in a dark and distant sci-fi universe where mankind bleeds out in the trenches of Enoch. In a hostile world where nothing is quite as it seems, you'll transcend worlds as you embark on a journey from the First City in search of a mysterious signal and fight through enemies to learn its secrets. Expected to be released later this year, Outriders is certainly another hot title to keep your eyes on.

3. Dying Light 2

The follow-up to 2015's hugely popular Dying Light, action-horror fans should expect more of the same in this new release - but with several twists that make for super exciting gameplay. Set 15 years later and starring a new protagonist called Aiden Caldwell, players will embark on a journey through a world full of zombies and other hostile enemies, with parkour moves still being very much at the heart of the gameplay. Throughout the game, players will have to make choices that will have a profound impact on the storyline and gameplay.

Online Multiplayer Games4. Halo Infinite

Set to be released exclusively for Xbox One and Windows 10, Halo Infinite is the next entry in Microsoft's flagship game franchise. This brand new, in-person shooter will see the return of the legendary Master Chief following the fall of humanity. While official information about the game is sketchy, you should expect to see a multitude of online multiplayer game modes including team battles and the celebrated infection game mode. Keep a close eye out for further details.

5. Chivalry 2

Inspired by epic medieval battles, the sequel to Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a new multiplayer first-person slasher that will see players catapulted into multiplayer battlefields, with support for up to 64 players. As well as the doubling of the player count compared to its predecessor, developers are pushing the fact that players can now ride into battle on horseback, recreating famous battles from popular shows like Game of Thrones. This is definitely one to look out for.

6. Skull & Bones

Developed by Ubisoft (Assassin's Creed, Just Dance, Rayman and many more), Skull & Bones is a new game that sees you thrust into the shoes of an upstart pirate captain in search of loot. Inspired by the naval battles in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, the game will allow players to sail the Indian Ocean alone or together with up to five players in the Disputed Waters game mode.

So, there you have it. We hope you enjoyed our roundup of the best multiplayer games to look out for in 2020! Whichever game you're looking forward to, 2020 certainly looks set to be a stellar year.
