There are 200+ graded video games up for bids in Hake's Auction #236, including some awesome Gold-tier VGA entries that are worth keeping an eye on. Here's a look at a few we're watching!

NINTENDO GAME BOY (1989) COMPACT VIDEO GAME SYSTEM W/TETRIS VGA 85+ NM+

This is a great system in a fantastically high grade. We still aren't seeing many graded consoles, so finding one in a high-grade, gold tier, is not something you can expect to see every day.  It's also interesting that VGA holds the market when it comes to graded consoles. Wata hasn't quite turned that corner yet, so this is truly the best graded console game in town.

This entry has a value code of $10,000 to $20,000. It'll definitely be interesting to see where it lands.

NINTENDO N64 (1997) GOLDENEYE 007 VGA 85 NM+

Item description, courtesy of Hake's Auction; "Rareware game cartridge. Rareware. Based on the hit James Bond movie. Box features movie poster images of Pierce Brosnan in action. One of the most iconic movie-based video games of all time, and one of the most influential four-player titles ever released. It introduced many players to the concept of the first-person shooter. Third-best-selling Nintendo 64 game at over 8 million copies sold."

Video games have had a huge impact on pop culture, and vice versa. Here is a great blend of the two - James Bond in video game form. Bond remains major pop culture institution, as it has for the last few decades. For a lot of us, the cover inspires a healthy dose of nostalgia. And this copy is in great condition, only adding to its allure.

Graded 85+, its condition and crossover into so many other aspects of pop culture will make this one an interesting watch once the gavel starts swinging.

This game has a value code of $10,000 to $20,000.

NINTENDO N64 (1999) SUPER SMASH BROS. VGA 85 NM+ (VERTICAL SEAM)

Item description, courtesy of Hake's Auction; Nintendo game cartridge. Nintendo's ultimate crossover fighting series where their core characters (Link, Mario, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Kirby and more) are able to "Duke It Out". Fifth best-selling Nintendo 64 game. Produced by Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto.

This is a highly-graded game based on a character with a movie coming out soon. Oh yeah, and it's MARIO! The Italian brothers are no strangers to headline-making sales, having set their share of records over the past few years. As video game collecting continues to gain momentum, copies like this one will become even more prized.

This item has a value code of $35,000 to $50,000.

If video games aren't your bag, there are plenty of other categories in this auction to grab your eye!

Star Wars

Hake's and Star Wars go together like Han and Chewie.

Item description courtesy of Hake's Auction; Blister card contains 3.75" tall Kenner action figure with initial "Double-Telescoping" lightsaber. Kenner only produced three figures with this feature - Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader - before the lightsabers were modified to remove the double-telescoping design due to cost and manufacturing issues. While not noted on AFA label, figure is packaged with SKU on footer. Card is unpunched. Slight ripple to right of blister bubble. Archival case. AFA subgrades are as follows - C70 B80 F85. An AFA 90 Double-Telescoping Luke Skywalker sold earlier this year at auction for $100,252. This Double-Telescoping Obi-Wan Kenobi is infinitely rarer as carded, and just the third such specimen we have offered at auction; our last example (AFA 70) selling for $64,900 in Nov. 2019. Since that time, vintage Star Wars figures have continued to climb in value, none more so than the rarest of the rare, which we present to you here.
This entry has a value code of $100,000 to $200,000.

Transformers

TRANSFORMERS (1984) SERIES 1 - OPTIMUS PRIME AFA 80 NM

Item description courtesy of Hake's Auction; Window box contains Autobot Commander Optimus Prime. Registered logo. AFA sub-grades are as follows - B80 W85 F90. Among the most desirable Series 1 Transformers toys. Great eye appeal.

This item has a value code of $10,000 to $20,000.
