Novelist Carol Tyler's first graphic novel, You'll Never Know: A Good and Decent Man, is her attempt to bring her father's experiences in World War II to life, after he suddenly starts to tell her details after refusing to discuss the subject for 60 years.

The New York Times says, "Tyler's book is a vivid, affecting, eccentrically stylish frame built around a terrible silence." The first of a three-part series, You'll Never Know: A Good and Decent Man explores the effect WWII had, both on her father, and on their entire family.

Gorgeously written, drawn, and designed, You'll Never Know is a heartfelt, beautifully realized book that reads as part memoir, part scrapbook. This hardcover book is a wonderful addition to any graphic novel library, and the perfect gift for someone who's a part of "The Greatest Generation"–or who's struggling to understand it.

You'll Never Know also explores Tyler's struggles after her husband left her for a former babysitter and the repercussions it had on her and her daughter. Her facility for dealing with raw emotions is delicate, but she wields with the force of a sledgehammer. But don't take my word for it–check out our exclusive 20-page preview here.
