Vilonia Middle SchoolPer the Log Cabin Democrat, 10 of the 50 National Find a Hero Contest finalists were from Vilonia Middle School, located in Vilonia Arkansas.

Students in the literacy classes at Vilonia Middle School recently competed in the National Find a Hero Contest sponsored by Stone Arch Books.

Out of the 22 students participating, all received some sort of recognition from the company.

Students who received honorable mentions and a DC Comics bookmark were Danielle Bailey, Cody Chance, Kourtney Clayton, Caylah Duke, Morgan Dyson, Crystal Hammock, Mariah Jones, Dustin Koebernick, Samantha Parsons, Cole Ritter, Aubrey Verick, Mollie Walker and Lexus Wood.

The 10 finalists were Valaurie Adelman, Audrey Davis, Cory Evans, Cole Flowers, Jacob Kemper, Jessica Mackivitch, Reagan Mitchell, Ashley Moreno, Brian Schneblen and Tori Wade.

Each of the finalists received a certificate of achievement, a DC Comics bookmark and a library bound copy of a DC Comics graphic novel. They each also won a copy of the DC Comics graphic novel for the library.

"I'm so proud of you," Principal Cathy Riggins told the students as they gathered to receive their awards.

"This was a national competition and out of 50 finalists, 10 are from our school. That is quite an accomplishment."
