Spider-man truly some devoted fans and readers. As proof, take a look at what’s happening with obscure Spider-man books that are capturing the attention of speculators right now.

We can start with Amazing Spider-man #212. A video of current Marvel Spider-man actor Tom Holland speaking on set with a water-canon accidentally firing in the background was enough to set the prices of ASM #212 soaring.

Sheer rumor suggested that Hydro-Man will somehow be involved in the Spider-man sequel, and that was enough to send the prices soaring on this book.

The Amazing Spider-Man #212 (January 1981) – First appearance of Hydro-man

Hydro-Man was Morris Bench, a New Yorker accidentally knocked into the water by Spider-man at the same time as an experimental generator was being tested. He gains the power to manipulate water and even transform himself into pure water. Hence his new moniker: Hydro-Man. Many comic book fans probably have old copies of this comic in a long box somewhere. Sure, it’s a first appearance and a minor key, but did you ever think it would blow up and be worth anything? I didn’t. But the world of comic book speculation will constantly surprise you. This comic has gone up based on, as stated, sheer rumor mongering.

This comic is listed as having a fair market value of $190.00 at 9.8 grade with 9.2 grades especially spiking at + 249.2% returns. I’ve seen it listed on Ebay for as high as $2000.00 in 9.8 and the last few sales have gone as high as $294.99 (August 15, 2018) from as low as $152.50 only a month ago (on July 22, 2018). Keep an eye on this one, the rumors could prove true. If Hydro-Man's appearance in the Spider-man sequel is confirmed prices will spike upwards.

Carnage Mind-Bomb #1 (January 1996) – First Carnage self-titled book

Cletus Kassidy is Carnage. With all the interest on Venom right now, it was only a matter of time before interest shifted to Carnage as well (since where Venom goes, Carnage is sure to follow). In 1996 Carnage got his self-titled one shot comic called “Mind-Bomb” written by Warren Ellis with pencils by Kyle Hotz. A 9.4 raw copy of this sold yesterday (August 17th, 2018) on Ebay for $150.00! Currently this comic is listed as having 68 certified CGC submissions and a fair market value of $80.00 in 9.8 grade on GoCollect.com. That price is no doubt poised to be adjusted very soon.

Free Comic Book Day 2007 (Spider-Man) #1 - First appearance of Jackpot

Rumors of a movie have made this comic spike recently. Dan Slott and Phil Jimenez are the creative force behind this (free) Spider-man giveaway comic from 2007. Why are raw copies of this comic selling for up to $30.00? Blame Jackpot. Premiering in the 'Brand New Day' storyline, Jackpot is the alter-ego of geneticist Sara Ehret. Exposed to a chemical concoction while researching Parkinson’s disease, she is transformed into a super strong hero and dons the identity of Jackpot. This free comic is now trending at a fair market price of $80.00 for 9.8 graded copies with a downward noted trend since June. But since Ebay has a sale listing of a 9.8 going for $191.00 on August 12 (a few days ago). Expect the stats on this one to be updated anytime.

The lesser known, Jackpot Mini-Series from 2010, is also worth seeking out, especially since it is somewhat flying under the radar right now.
