The hype machine cometh. Into the Spider-Verse has set the market ablaze for key issues of all five alternate Spider-Men (and women...and a pig), and this is only the beginning.

Into the Spider-Verse hasn't even been released yet, and it's already been nominated for a Golden Globe, and it's getting a sequel.

The film will be the big-screen debuts for a number of new faces in the Spider-Man lore. Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen (now officially known as Ghost Spider), Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Ham have all been featured on television, but having them featured in movies is a whole new level of exposure. Then there's Peni Parker and her Sp//dr mech suit getting her on-screen debut.

The pieces are in place for Into the Spider-Verse to be a major hit, and the key issues for all these characters have received a major boost from the movie hype. Here's the rundown.

MILES MORALES/ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN

Miles took the reigns of Spider-Man in the Ultimate universe after the death of that Earth's Peter Parker. Since then, we've been gradually seeing more and more of Miles. He's currently included in the main Marvel universe, Earth 616, and he was confirmed through an allusion to be in the MCU in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Marvel clearly has big plans for Miles, and his first featured role in a film will propel his first appearance in 2011's Ultimate Fallout #4.

All grades for UF #4 are booming with most grades up substantially from their 2017 fair market values. The 9.8, which had been averaging $221 last year, has a 90-day FMV of $269. The last sale for a graded 9.8 was for $370, and one set a record high of $440 on December 8.

SPIDER-GWEN/GHOST SPIDER

In an alternate reality, Gwen Stacy gained Peter Parker's superpowers and became the Spider-Woman of her world. Since her debut in Edge of Spider-Verse #2, she's been a popular edition to the Spider-canon, even having her own self-titled comic, Spider-Gwen.

This comic has simply exploded. Being such a new comic, most of the copies being sold are in the mint/near mint range, and few grades outside that range are trading hands. The 9.8 is doing extremely well. Last year, it had an FMV of $192 and peaked with a high sale of $275. In the past 90 days, it's averaged $396 and has sold for $500 seven times since November 30. Even the 8.0 is bringing $150, which is your true indicator about this comic's popularity.

PENI PARKER/ SP//dr

Another alternate-reality Spider-Man, the anime-inspired Peni Parker and her Sp//dr suit were brought to life in Edge of Spider-Verse #5 in 2015. Until recently, this wasn't a sought out key issue, and only four graded 9.8s sold between 2015 and 2016 for no more than $62, and there were no recorded sales for it in 2017. With her addition to Into the Spider-Verse, this has suddenly become a key issue.

Since mid-July, there have been 21 graded 9.8s sold on eBay, and the prices have steadily been on the rise. After breaking the $100 mark at the end of July, the FMV has swelled to a $115-90-day average, and the most recent sale was for $125 on December 5.

SPIDER-HAM

If the trailers are any indication, Spider-Ham will steal the show in Into the Spider-Verse. Of the trailers I've seen so far, he's been my favorite part, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Spider-Ham made his debut back in 1983's Marvel Tails featuring Peter Porker #1, the Spectacular Spider-Ham. Then in 1985, he earned his own self-titled Peter Porker: the Spectacular Spider-Ham #1.

Marvel Tails may be a joke comic, but its investment potential is serious. A year ago, you could have gotten a 9.8 on average for $127; now its 90-day average is nearly $600. At the moment, every grade sold this year - from a 7.5 to a 9.8 - has made considerable gains in FMV.

As for Spectacular Spider-Ham #1, the near-mint 9.8 has been the only grade truly booming lately. Back in 2016, you could have bought a graded 9.8 for $70. Last year, that average went up to $92, but only three copies sold, although one of those was for a record high of $152. Over the past 90 days, it's reached an FMV of $127, but the bigger picture is that the last copy sold was for $140 in November.

SPIDER-MAN NOIR

As part of its Marvel Noir line of comics, the company re-imagined its major characters as dark, gritty Great Depression-era heroes in the 1930s. While the series has become a cult classic, the Batman-inspired Spider-Man Noir has lingered, being featured in video games and cartoons, and he's even had an action figure. Now he's making his movie debut, which will only add to his fandom.

He first appeared in Spider-Man Noir #1 in 2009, but it hasn't found true popularity until this year. Before the Into the Spider-Verse boom, a grand total of seven 9.8s were sold on eBay between 2009 and 2017. At the moment, the 90-day FMV for a 9.8 stands at $335 over 18 sales in that time, and it hasn't sold for less than $300 since November 30.
